Gamble Plantation

This is the Gamble Plantation in Ellenton. It is the last remaining plantation house in south Florida. It was built in 1847 and had about 160 slaves. They grew sugar cane there. Today it is a state historic site. I gave tours of the mansion and grounds every other Sunday afternoon for about 8 years. I enjoyed learning a lot of local history there.
