Sunset

Here is a beautiful sunset over the Gulf of Mexico.

It has been a sad week in our history with the coming of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf. We were not affected by the storm in my area, but please pray for the people whose lives have been changed forever by Katrina. The devastation is heartbreaking. Do whatever you can to help these unfortunate people. Donate to your church or favorite charity or whoever has a program to send aid. This is a time of great need.

Little Green Heron

We love birds in Florida. This one is a Little Green Heron. I took this picture using binoculars to zoom in. I don't know why the water looks such a bright shade of green, but I like the way the picture came out.

Here is the same Monarch a little bit later. The butterflies stay still for a few hours to let their wings dry and harden. Then they take off and start their new life.

We have studied Monarchs. They eat our milkweed and then make their chrysallis in our yard. Here is one that is only an hour away from coming out to start his life as a butterfly with beautiful orange and black wings.

It has been a year since Charley did so much unbelievable damage to Florida. This is a picture I took as Jeanne went by a month later. The wind was blowing and made the rain sting if it hit your skin.
