Curly Horned Goat

Here is a goat I saw at the Pumpkin Festival. This goat was nice enough to sit still and pose for my camera.

Pumpkin Festival

We worked at a pumpkin festival this weekend. Here is one of the many cute scarecrows they had posed around the grounds.

I will share a few more pictures this week since it is the season for pumpkins.

Photo Friday: Delicate

This is a sea anemone at Mote Marine Laboratory. I thought it looked rather delicate. Pretty too.

Take a look at my home page to see more great pictures of Florida.

Orange Sunrise

I just love sunrise and sunset pictures. Have I already mentioned that? LOL This one was a sunrise picture a few years ago just before we were leaving on vacation.

Hurricane Wilma (no pictures)

Blogger is giving me a hard time about putting a picture on today. That is okay because I don't really have a good picture of Wilma. Wilma arrived in the dark. Around 4:00AM the wind began to blow. The eye hit land about 150 miles south of me at 6:30AM. All day the wind blew about 30 - 40 mph, but by the time the sun came up to take pictures it had slowed down and there were no good pictures to take. Fortunately I have no good hurricane damage pictures to show. I am very glad about that. I saw one small tree down in my area. We were very fortunate again to dodge the hurricane bullet.

Hopefully Blogger will let me download some more pictures of Florida tomorrow.

Photo Friday: Retro

Before there was a McDonalds in every town there were "mom and pop" hamburger stands. There are still a few around like this one in my town. It was very busy there today at lunch time.

Beagles

A picture drawn in 7th grade with colored pencils. It won a blue ribbon at the county art fair.

Sandhill Crane family

This is a family of Sandhill Cranes. These birds are at least 4 feet tall as adults. Couples mate for life and are usually found a few feet apart from each other. I am assuming that the third bird is a baby although he or she looks to be about full grown. Sandhills are easy to identify with the bright red feathers on top of their heads.

Camp Road

I love taking pictures of roads going into the woods. This is another in the series of "There is more to Florida than white sand, beaches, palm trees, and theme parks."

Hillsborough River

This is a view of the river in the state park. It looks like such a pretty Florida place. There is more to Florida than just white beaches, palm trees, and theme parks. There are some beautiful wooded areas with rivers. Great places for hiking too.

Photo Friday: Conspicuous

What do you do with 47 Girl Scout cookie boxes? Make a group of towers that are pretty conspicuous in the front yard.

Florida River

Here is a picture of a beautiful Florida river. On the day I took this picture we saw 6 or 7 dolphins swimming and jumping in the water. I was surprised, because this location is about 6 miles upstream from the Gulf of Mexico. I didn't realize that dolphins travelled that far inland.

Marco Island Sunset

This has turned out to be sunrise/sunset week on my Florida blog. This one was sent to me by a friend from south Florida. It is the sunset from Marco Island off the west coast of Florida which is way down there, south of Naples.

North Florida Beach

I have always lived in south Florida, but they have some beautiful beaches in the north Florida panhandle too. Here is a picture of where my friend spent most of the month of September. Don't you wish you could have been there too? The water is so blue and the sand so white. Looks like a nice place.

Girl Scout trail

Today we head down the trail and leave Girl Scout camp behind. I hope you had a good time seeing a few of the sights at camp. Where shall we go next? Hmmmm, let me see what else I can find in Florida to share with my blog.

Girl Scout cabin

Here is one of the cabins at camp. Our troop has stayed here several times. We spent one weekend there during a bad thunderstorm. We were very glad to be in cabins that night and not tents.
