Happy New Year!

This is the road to a small town in Florida. I love to get out and travel in the countryside where you can't see buildings and signs. It also represents the road to a new year which I hope holds a lot of beautiful blessings for you and your family. Welcome to 2007!

Missing you, Aaron!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

This is a life size solid ice sculpture in Orlando. It was a beautiful sight and a real reminder of what Christmas is all about.

Photo Friday: Weather

This is a picture from Hurricane Jeanne. It was one of the four hurricanes that hit Florida in 2004. Fortunately we live in an area that wasn't damaged. All we got was some wind and rain and a little coastal flooding.

Christmas Parade

This is the Grinch riding on a golf card in a Christmas parade. There were about 30 decorated golf carts that paraded around several mobile home parks. It is an annual event. It was a nice evening with tempertures in the 70's. Another reason to love Florida.

Gulfcoast Flute Choir

This is the dress rehearsal of the Gulfcoast Flute Choir that I am a member of. I played the flute for 6 years as a teen and then took a 30 year break! I have now been playing with the choir for 2 years and really enjoy it. Last night was our Christmas concert. It was a lot of fun playing with a lot of great flute players of all ages.

Photo Friday: Ambushed

Our neighborhood was "ambushed" by 6 Sand Hill Cranes. They strolled down our street squawking loudly like they owned the place. It is hard to argue with a bird that is almost 4 feet tall!

Christmas Show

We went to the Glenn Beck Christmas Show this week. I tried to take pictures, but they came out blurry. This is the best one I took of Glenn from row AA, 27 rows back. It was a great show with a lot of funny Christmas stories about Glenn's family and the true meaning of Christmas.

Christmas Tree

Here is our tree for this year. Does anyone notice anything different this year? I guess this can only be answered by people who saw my tree in other years.

Florida Christmas Tree?

This is supposed to be a Key West Christmas tree. It is pretty with lots of pastel colors and sea life. Most people in Florida have traditional red and green trees. I am working on mine and will show it to you soon. Stand by.

Photo Friday: Fresh

I wish there was a way to smell my blog so you could really enjoy this fresh bread. It came out of the bread machine about 5 minutes before I took this picture. It is really FRESH and tasty too!

Remember Pearl Harbor so it doesn't happen again!

Ice Train

This train is also made totally of ice. It is large enough to walk through all three cars. We noticed that it was a little warmer inside the train made of ice than outside. Maybe it was 12°F instead of 9°F.

Ice Cold Flamingos?

Believe it or not, these two pink flamingos are solid ice. They are part of a huge ice sculpture display at the Gaylord Palms called Ice. The display is kept at 9°F which is way colder than Floridians care to spend time in for very long. Fortuanately they provide nice warm parkas to wear in the exhibit too. We took only a few photos of the ice display because after a few minutes our camera batteries went dead. After we went out and warmed up the batteries started working again.

Key West?

This is a popular site if you visit Key West, but we didn't. We stopped at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando and this is part of the display in their lobby. They have the biggest lobby I have ever seen. It is 4 1/2 acres all under a glass dome. It is like walking around a theme park. They have displays that represent 4 areas of Florida including the fort in St. Augustine, a sailboat that is a restaurant representing Key West, and a swamp for the Everglades.
