Daytona Sunset
We spent the Thanksgiving weekend at Daytona Beach. Of course I took the opportunity to take a lot of great Florida pictures. Believe it or not this is a sunset over the Atlantic ocean, not a sunrise. (I took sunrise pictures too.) It was so colorful and bright that I took several. Come back all this week for more Daytona pictures.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Today is a day to give thanks to the Lord for all our blessings. It is a beautiful day here in sunny Florida. It should warm up to almost 80 which means we can have our Thanksgiving dinner outside on the porch. That is one thing I love about Florida. Others may be enjoying snow today, but we are enjoying the sunny warm weather.

Dog Trot
Old houses in Florida included a "dog trot". It was a part of the house that the breeze could blow through to cool the house a little. Of course this was in the days long before air conditioners. Since it was a cooler place the family dogs would hang out there too which is where the name comes from.

Gamble Plantation
This is the Gamble Plantation in Ellenton. It is the last remaining plantation house in south Florida. It was built in 1847 and had about 160 slaves. They grew sugar cane there. Today it is a state historic site. I gave tours of the mansion and grounds every other Sunday afternoon for about 8 years. I enjoyed learning a lot of local history there.

Model T
It is time to pack up the old Model T and head home from the Pumpkin Festival. Well, actually, this is an old car that was just arriving at the parking lot when I took its picture. I hope you had a good time enjoying the Pumpkin Festival in Florida.
Don't forget to leave a comment if you had a good time.

Photo Friday: Warmth
This was an old house that the fire department used for training fireman. They set the fire on purpose so no one got hurt. It was also pretty warm standing way back on the sidewalk on a cold rainy day.
